Since arriving here at the beginning of Feb, we've been keeping pretty busy.
We've eaten lots of yummy food:
This badly photographed collection includes rice milk, chocolate soy milk powder, dulce de leche flavoured soy thing, tofu - plain and marinated, seitan, seitan empanadas, vegetable sushi, TVP, conditioner, refried beans, soy cream cheese, black beans, chickpea flour, frozen brocoli, & chia seeds.
We've patted/naaawwwed at many animals
We've explored our neighbourhood and this beautiful city
Note: We've been kind of crappy at taking photos around the city, so there wasn't much to choose from.
Some bonus random observations re: food:
Finding vegan products, as well as products that we can use to make typical veganish foods like tofu, peanut butter, loads of different kinds of veggies, beans and grains, is really easy here, thanks to barrio chino and the dieteticas dotted all over the city.
That said, there are a whole bunch of things that are lacking - like certain spices and things I'm used to at home like maple syrup or powdered vegetable stock that doesn't contain gelatin or cow fat (both of which I find strangely out of place). Or bread that manages to be wholemeal & not have honey - a rare feat in Buenos Aires apparently - and not taste like cardboard.
But generally speaking, so far it seems that being vegan in this city is going to be much easier than I thought. :)
As a total side note, I'm starting spanish lessons tomorrow. Eeek!
Hi mands good to hear from you. keep the updates rolling. When you start doing them in Spanish can we please have an interpreter. Buenos Aires looks beautiful
